Welcome

The Cologne-Twente Workshop (CTW) on Graphs and Combinatorial Optimization started off a series of workshops organized bi-annually by either Universität zu Köln or Twente University. As it importance grew over time, it re-centered its geographical focus by including France (CTW10 in Paris) and Italy (CTW04 in Menaggio, on the lake Como, CTW08 in Gargnano, on the Garda lake and CTW11 in Villa Mondragone, an historical villa located in Frascati, Rome).

This year, CTW (in its eleventh edition) will be staged in Munich for the first time: more precisely at Universtät der Bundeswehr München, Faculty of Computer Science, organized by COMTESSA. Furthermore it is an official co-conference of the German Society for Operations Research (GOR).

The Cologne-Twente Workshop on Graphs and Combinatorial Optimization welcomes contributions on theory and applications of discrete algorithms, graphs and combinatorial structures and especially Operations Research in the wide sense. Following a well established tradition, the workhop aims to disseminate scientific results, especially by young researchers, in a friendly and interactive atmosphere. As tradition warrants, a special issue of Discrete Applied Mathematics (DAM) will be devoted to CTW2012, containing full-length versions of selected presentations given at the workshop and possibly other contributions related to the workshop topics.

Approximately 100 participants with 75 talks demonstrate the relevance of Graphs and Combinatorial Optimization in Theory and Practice and their meaning for

Complex Decision Support in Theory and Practice

For the first time a special Vernissage is embedded in the program: We have the honour to welcome Prof. Dr. K.-H. Hofmann as mathematician and artist! The introduction will be given by Dr. Ina Ulrike Paul, director of studium+ at UniBw München.
